Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream Review & Photos

It's winter time and I've officially become too light for my foundation. My skin is also not as bad as it used to be whenever my acne had cleared up. The acne scarring has faded away quite nicely but now my problem is uneven skin tone.

My cheeks pales in comparison to the rest of my face. I've noticed that halfway through the day I start to look a little dead because there's no color in my face. That's when I started to consider wearing some kind of tinted moisturizer or a sheer, lightweight foundation. Conveniently, the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB 8-in-1 Beauty Balm Skin Perfector sample came in the mail that I had requested from walmart a while ago when they posted the offer.

I tried out the sample to see if it would even be pigmented enough to even out my skin tone. My face looked more even, but the sample was a shade lighter than it should be so I went out to Walgreens and purchased the full size version in the shade medium for $8.99.

I don't know how my tube got/looks so dirty. I don't take it in my purse or even take it out from where I store it. The packaging corresponds nicely with their Baby Lips Lip Balm. It's super functional and easy to use.

Here's a swatch of it on the back of my hand. It's not like traditional Asian BB creams where it comes out white and adjusts to match your skin while it oxidizes. The texture is similar to a lotion and initially on my skin it feels like sunscreen residue. However it does sink in and feels nice on the face. If I didn't have oily areas on my face I probably wouldn't set it with powder.

Onto the photos ~!

Naked Face

Above is my naked, bare face. I don't have bad skin at all but my pores around my t-zone are large and noticeable.

 5 minutes after application

I applied one layer of the BB cream in the above photo. Sometimes I opt to put a second layer over for a fuller coverage but I didn't think I needed it where I was headed that day. As you can see it's a little shiny around my t-zone and cheeks.

Powdered Face with MUFE HD Powder

I lightly applied powder on the areas I didn't think would stay put. This is where it starts looking pinky on my face. I guess because it's still oxidizing. I'm not sure what's really going on there but it does look a little pink for a little bit and eventually adjusts to the right shade.

After I applied the bb cream, my boyfriend and I went to check out his sister's new restaurant she purchased. It was already an existing entity so all she wanted to do was improve it and spruce it up. It was 7:00 PM when I first applied it and by the time we got done with the tasks for the day, it was already 3:30 AM when I took the photo below.

After 8.5 hours

The BB cream didn't move around because I refrained from touching my face what so ever since I was occupied with tasks the entire time. It held up good because I powdered my face but if I hadn't I'd probably be a grease ball by the time I took the photo.

I really liked how my skin looks even and when I pair this with my NARS Laguna bronzer and NARS Deep Throat blush, my skin looks amazing (: ! It matches my face color perfectly and does what I need it to do. I did purchase the L'oreal version of the BB cream and I'm not sure which one I want to keep. (I don't want to keep both but I might have to since I ended up liking the Maybelline one more than I thought I would.) I'll be reviewing that one soon so look out for that!

I hope this review helped anyone who was interested in this product! I know I'm a little late on jumping on the bandwagon but I'm glad I gave the product a try.

Take care!

    1. I usually walk out the door bare faced, but when I do have time it's nice to apply and it really evens out my skintone and I just look so much more pulled together! (I look like I didn't just roll out of bed and left the house, lol)

    1. My skin has come a long way and I'm very proud that I've stuck to my skin routine. I struggled with really bad cystic acne most of my life so it's refreshing to be able to walk out of the house with minimal makeup and feel confident :)
