VS Makeup: Color Drama Lipstick in Sinful and Lip Liner in Spice It Up Review & Swatches

Victoria's Secret is having a sale on their cosmetics right now! From my knowledge, I believe they are discontinuing their makeup line so I grabbed a few things I've always wanted to try from them before it was too late.

First is a pinky-nude lipstick and the other is a lip liner. There were a few other things I wanted to try but those had a more likely chance to end up in a box somewhere so I just didn't grab them.

The lipstick was $9.80 after the discount and the lip liner was $8.40. I'd say that's a pretty good price, especially when drugstore makeup can get a bit pricey these days.

Sorry for posting already used products! I actually picked this up in Chicago during vacation and was really excited to use them and I didn't want to be made fun of photographing cosmetics before going out, haha.

NARS Laos Matte Multiple on the Cheeks & Lips

My original plan for this post failed and I can blame UPS for that. I couldn't get my hands on the Vientiane Matte Multiple so I had to order it online. I really wanted to do a full face with both products, but waiting on snail mail makes me feel like a failure of wanting to post regularly... so two separate posts it is!

If you missed it, you can read my review for this product here.

NARS Laos Matte Multiple Review & Swatches

If you've been a long follower of my blog, thank you and it wouldn't surprise you that I would purchase this purely because the shade is "Laos." It holds value to me because Laos is the country  my parents migrated from. I've only been there once in my lifetime but I can say it feels like home!

NARS Laos Matte Multiple

At first I only saw the promotional details of the collection so I had no clue how accurate the shade descriptions were. So the other day I was wandering around in Sephora looking for a skincare product and ended up finding this guy. I was extremely happy that it really was pretty in real life!

Maybelline Nude Lust ColorSensational Lipstick Swatches & Review

Hello all! I've been lurking back into the makeup world slowly and surely... This is one of tons that I have to share with y'all, as long as there's no ugly overcast in Texas!

One of the looks I first fell in love with when I was younger were smoky grey eyes with nude lips. Don't get me wrong, I'm still a sucker for them but I've expanded my horizons now that I'm older.

So naturally, of course, my heart fluttered when I saw the new Maybelline ColorSensational Lipstick Buffs collection. I searched high and low online to see which nude would look good against my skintone and finally decided to pick up Nude Lust!

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream Review & Swatches

Howdy all, I hope all is well with anyone who is still reading my lonely ol' blog. I'm doing great, thank you for asking, just four more classes until I complete my undergrad. Whoo hoo!

So onto what this post is really about...

I've been using the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream, $28 for a 6oz purchased at Sephora, for about half a year now so I feel it's an appropriate time for a review.

I goofed and forgot to take a photo so we're going to use the photo from the Sephora website, okay?

This cream has many uses. As the jar says, you can use it to "Hydrate dry, parched skin. Relieve minor irritation and itching due to eczema and other conditions. For the face and elsewhere." What I use it for is just an everyday facial moisturizer. I haven't tested out how it fares with eczema yet mainly because mine hasn't acted up in a while.

Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream Review & Swatches

When I first purchased this eye cream, it was $3 cheaper. I also logged on to the Sephora website and  found out that I lost my VIB status. (I've really given up makeup, holy crap!) I remember the first time I tried it, I instantly fell in love. The SA at the Bobbi Brown counter gave me a sample of it when I first bought their eye liner. In fact, she gave me so many packets that I got to try it out for about a month before actually purchasing it!

It took me a very long time to purchase this product. It wasn't available in-store at Sephora and I didn't want to buy it from Nordstrom if it's a product I can get points on. It was $46 when I purchased it but now it's selling for a whopping $49!! For me, that's still cheaper than a lot of the eye creams I was considering on purchasing at the time. Plus, I wanted to spend up to 50 bucks so I could get free shipping but didn't want to spend more than I needed. After days of delaying, I finally found a product to settle on that would make me right at the mark for free shipping.

Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm Haul & Review

I signed my lease to my new apartment last Saturday, I'm paying the deposits on Friday, & I move in on Saturday! I'm so excited, it'll be my first place on my own :)

***

This week, March 24 through March 30, Maybelline has a special when you spend $10 on their lip products you receive $3 extra bucks! I thought this was a sweet deal because I'm going to use those extra bucks towards the Physician's Formula BB Cream, which I will be going back for tonight. Plus there's a $3 off coupon on the BB Cream so it's a pretty good deal in my opinion :)!

With that being said, and obviously the name of this post, I purchased the Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm. I already own one so I decided to just throw it in the post along with the others and do a quick review over them. They were $3.99 each from my CVS which wasn't too bad but it definitely isn't as cheap as they would be if I purchased them from WalMart or Target.

Sephora Birthday Haul

I've been working 6 days a week and balancing school so I haven't had to energy to blog, but recently my dad handed me down his old iPhone 4. (When the 5 came out to be exact, I've just been sluggish on unlocking it, sorry!)

Since I have a new phone now and my camera focuses pretty nicely, I can start blogging from my phone again :)! Hopefully this will keep me on track better than I've been. I've also signed a lease to my first apartment and I don't want to buy new furniture until I get a house so possibly some DIY posts on revamping what you have.

Moving on... It's my birthday tomorrow and I'm turning 22! It hasn't quite sunk in that I'm getting older but I'm sure it will soon. I swung by Sephora with the boyfriend and picked up my present and caved and finally bought the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette! My boyfriend actually got it for me as a birthday present so hooray for that!

(I'm at work blogging as I type and there's a client looking at me like I'm crazy taking photos of my makeup purchase. She probably thinks I'm being obsessive!)

I don't splurge as crazy as I used to when I was living with my parents but here are my goodies:

haul: november ipsy bag

I finally signed up for a monthly subscription! Everything else seemed like it was either too expensive (i.e. glossybox) or it wasn't worth the monthly price for the items. The past two ipsy bags I've seen on the blogosphere had me very interested in signing up, and for only $10 with shipping included, why not?! Plus I figured it would get my monthly dose of "makeup exposure" and would keep me sane from buying more makeup, haha.

November's ipsy bag comes in a small brown makeup pouch and includes 5 items, 2 which are full-size and 3 sample sizes.

The contents inside. It also included a $20 off discount for justfab but I don't know where that went since I was too excited when I got it that I opened everything and used it, lol.

This item is full size! You can wear it over a base color for some added sparkle, or put multiple coats and make it opaque enough to wear by itself! I may have enjoyed a different color, but I already have many plain nail polish shades so this glittery concoction is a nice addition to my collection.

Above is displayed, from left to right, 3 coats, 2 coats, 1 coat, and bare nail.

It's definitely a buildable color, don't you agree? The glitter definitely clings on better when there is a textured surface. Hence why the second coat is much more opaque than the first!

November's bag also included an eyeshadow from the Meet Matt(e) palette by theBalm! I've always wanted to try out theBalm's product to see if they were any good and turns out the eyeshadow is very pigmented, smooth, and just overall good quality.

I spy the "nudetude" palette on hautelook right now, I may have to purchase that since that's what I've been on the fence about.

I received Matt Batali, which I believe is what everyone else got from all the bags I've personally seen. The shade is a rich, dark, chocolatey color. It's not exactly black but I wouldn't classify it as just a brown. It has this really nice smokiness to it and I used it to deepen my eyeshadow a few times already. It's very pigmented, so beware!

This lipgloss looks so dark in the tube, but when you apply it alone it really isn't that dark. It gives a nice berry tint to your lips but if you want the full effect I'd recommend layering it over a vampy lipstick. It's also minty, which I like! It makes me feel like I'm wearing lipbalm or something and I'd say it's a sticky lipgloss which means it'll keep my lips hydrated as I wear it and will be more prone to actually lasting.

A closer look at the shade. It's not quite this dark in my opinion but the bathroom lighting was not cooperating with me.

The applicator is an angled doe-foot wand which works nicely. My preference would be a brush applicator but this is more common.

Above is one normal layer of the lipgloss. I should've taken a naked lip picture for comparison but the gloss tints my lips just a little bit.

This is with an additional "globbing" on the gloss. It doesn't look much different from the other swatch, but I got confused while uploading the photos for this blog post so I'm sure none of y'all will notice a difference either.

Another full-size product. It's a black pencil liner but I would've say it's a deep black but rather an mediocre black. I used this to line my eyes, top and bottom lash line, and I fell asleep and it didn't smear or migrate. It did have some wear on it when I woke up but in my opinion it held up pretty well!

It's dull because I've used it a few times by the time I took this photo, sorry! I didn't want to sharpen it because one of the first things I noticed about this was it looked as if my grandmother had sharpened it with a knife instead of a sharpener.

I've never heard of this brand before but after trying it out I'm not quite sold on the product either. The packaging it comes in feels very cheap and so does the wand compared to my previous experience with the Anastasia Brow Gel. I do understand this is a sample size so the full-sized version might be better in the quality of the packaging but I can't say I'm remotely interested in purchasing that. I've used it on my brows and it gives a soft natural hold while still defining your brows. I can't say how it holds up during the day though since I didn't really recheck at the end of the night.

Here's the wand. It's just simple and basic. From what I remember the wand on the Anastasia one is more of an oval shape and it was actually soft. Maybe my standards are too high?

Above I used the Chella brow gel over my eyebrows with nothing else applied on there. I also lined my upper lash line with the Starlette liner and then I used Matt Batali on the lower lash line and I ran a little in the crease to show that it can be used lightly for a light wash.

I personally wouldn't use the eyeshadow on my brows just because it would be too harsh for my liking and I don't think it'd compliment my skin tone very well. Sorry for the red eyes, they were irritated and it was about 2am when I took these photos!

***

If you're interested in signing up for ipsy, check out their website. It's $10 a month and so far I'm a happy customer! I actually received mine about a week and a half ago, I've just been lazy to take photos and post but I read on the comments on the site that some people haven't received theirs yet so that might be a factor in not purchasing.

Hope this helps anyone!

Swatch: MAC Watch Me Simmer Lipstick

Hello my loves! It's been quite some time and life has been filled with ups and down. I've also been a busy bee traveling Texas since summer started :) I've been wanting to do a post on this lipstick for a while now! I almost didn't grab it when it came out so hooooray!

Watch Me Simmer came out twice with MAC already within a few months of each other. Apparently its first release sold out super fast (information from my make up artist :P) and I was fortunate the second time since she called me in for a pre sale ^_^!
The lipstick is an extremely bright coral. When leaving the house and going into public during the daytime, unless you're a makeup lover you must think I'm crazy to be wearing this on my lips! O_O
 MAC Watch Me Simmer
MAC Watch Me Simmer swatched on the back of my hand
On my lips it comes off as a more pinky coral in the photo for some reason but it really does have that bright orange to it like the swatch does!
Here's the lipstick worn :) I absolutely love this lipstick and pray I won't ever run out (although I know I will never even get half way if you want to be practical about it). It's basically the perfect summer color; bright, coral, and bold!

Do you own this lipstick?
What are your thoughts on it?

Hope all is well with everyone here on blogger. I've also created an instagram account, and then a year later when finally everyone is on it I started using it! My username is onlylindah if you want to follow :)

Haul: MAC Glitter and Ice

Happy Halloween everyone! (or what's left of it.)

I did absolutely nothing for Halloween this year except work. I guess I did something the previous week and have a few pictures of that so that'll be the next post ;P

Today I spent all morning in the campus library while waiting for my *friend* to be done with class since I went to school with him lol. I FINALLY purchased my textbook and downloaded all the files we were suppose to have. Looked at the online homework and realized it's not due until another week or so, so I decided to read blogs! I swear when I don't have time to read, that's when everyone blogs! I didn't get through reading them in the two hours and I don't even follow that many people! (btw, any blog recommendations? I've been out of the loop and wanna start following more people!)
hehe, my panda backpack ;) childish I know, but I like to have cute looking bags lol. It's more toned down than the hello kitty I was going to get ^_^ && gotta blog through my mac!

***

I didn't haul much from MAC this year from their holiday collection. AND I didn't haul anything from Sephora's f&f sale. SUPER SHOCKER?! Yes, but that's because I'm broke too. Plus all my skincare has been stocked up already so there's really no point :/ I did get the VIB sale in the mail for the next two weeks though so maybe it'll give me another chance to get at least something I'm interested in.

*DUN DUN DUN...* All I got were three paint pots. I had some interest in a few other things but it didn't quite make the cut for me.
I didn't realize until I got home that they came in special packaging... and yet I wondered why it was more than usual for three paint pots -___-" It's also because I preordered it and everything was bagged up and ready when I got there (:
They come with white lids rather than black, but other than that and the box it's basically the same packaging. The OCD in me is dying .____. they don't match any of my other paint pots, and I have a ton!!! D:<
Top to bottom: Let's Skate! | Morning Frost | For Effect
I really thought I was going to dislike Let's Skate! but I purchased anyway because I just have a love for paint pots. It turns out that in the sun it's GORGEOUSSSS and by far my favorite out of the bunch. I haven't tried it on yet but I'm sure it'll look great :)

Let's Skate! is a icy pink with a golden shimmer. It sounds crazy but I have no other way to describe it... and let's just say I'm really bad with color descriptions too LOL..

Morning Frost is a shimmery, almost metallic taupe color. I'm sure there are many dupes but I just had to have it anyway :P

For Effect is a gunmetal/black with silver glitter. This color is awesome and it's pretty pigmented in one swipe! :) A great base for those smoky looks.

So library blogging has horrible lighting. Especially sitting next to the cloudy window lol. BUT here are swatches anyway in the same order as above.
When we got into the car to head home I snapped a photo of it in the sunlight! I wish I could've captured how BEAUTIFUL all the shades really were but iPhone 3GS photography sucks.
Overall, I was not impressed with this collection! I'm heading back to the counter tomorrow though and maybe I'll get to spend more time with a few more items and it could change my mind... lol :)

***

I have a flat iron review coming up soon, but most likely my next post will be more of what's happening in my life post. I really need to vent but I don't wanna be childish and blast it online like SOME PEOPLE do.

Goodnight all, and hope you had a great Halloween!

Haul: MAC Hue Lipstick & Lip Swatches

Hello dolls :)

I swung by MAC on Sunday after work to check out the new holiday collection. I'm totally LOVING the white packaging, but the silver glitter ruined it for me -__- lol. I purchased all the paint pots and I'm debating on a brush set or two just because of the random new brushes in there :X

While I was there I brought some of the empty pots to BACK2MAC for a new lipstick :) I ended up getting Hue. I'm trying to steer away from all the limited edition shades now and gear towards permanent stuff :D

MAC Hue Lipstick

The only thing that bugs me about getting a BACK2MAC is I don't get a box!! The way I store my makeup I like to have the box label on top so I don't have to flip it over and look UNDER the lipstick lol. My photo is a little more towards the brown side so sorry about that! This is why I don't like blogging at night but if I didn't then I wouldn't be able to blog at all. Sighh!

MAC Hue Lipstick on Lips

Okay, but this picture makes me mad because everything turned out a little more pink than it should be! UGHH.. lol, but Hue is a sheer nude pink :) I like the lipstick, but I think I'm gonna invest in a more pinky-nude lipliner because when I wear nudes you can never tell where my lipline starts or ends since it's not very prominent which sometimes I like the look.

***

From my one of my previous posts, [HAUL: Posh Paradise & Styledriven], I purchased the pro longwear lipliner in Nice 'n' Spicy. I finally tried it out on my lips and I love it! Since it's longwearing, it does have that dry, tight feeling to it.

Nice 'n' Spicy Pro Longwear Lip Pencil on Lips

So above is a swatch of it applied all over my lips. It's really matte and does get to the point where it feels uncomfortably dry if you aren't going to put anything on top.

Nice 'n' Spicy Pro Longwear Lip Pencil & MAC The Faerie Glen Lipstick on Lips

I applied MAC The Faerie Glen (released with Tartan Tale, I think) on top and I like the result of this lipstick more with the lipliner! With nude shades like I mentioned earlier, my lipline sorta disappears and with a straight up nude I feel like it looks like concealer lips. I like how it looks more defined but not overly defined :) Now I can start wearing more nude shades again ^_~!

Do you prefer lipstick with lipliner?

***

I have a mascara review coming up soon ;) I fell in love... lol, it's been a while since I've found a mascara I like and actually stuck with! Stay tuned for that, and it's not massively expensive like some dior ones I've had in the past!

Haul & Review: MAC Me Over

Hello everyone!

I've recently hauled some stuff from MAC.. like release date last thursday recent lol. I wanted to give everything a test run before I tell y'all about it! Of course here's the haul photo!
Sorry it's not the best photo, I'm still iPhone blogging because now my camera is missing.

I purchased;;
  • MAC Moleskin Eyeshadow
  • MAC Stunner Blush
  • Deborah Lippman Today Was A Fairytale Nail Lacquer
  • MAC 211 (with two more on the way)
  • MAC 226 (two of them)
I love the eyeshadow, it works the same as MAC Soft Brown but it has more of a cool tone to it.

The blush is absolutely gorgeous, but it's not a "must have" because I'm sure I have like 10 more shades similar to this in my stash. I really wanted to get Equilibrium but I'm not sure if I would ever use it.

The nail polish is heaven, if you love yourself some glitter! With only one coat the glitter transfers lovely. Likeeee, you wouldn't need 3 billion coats to get an opaque glitter finish. It's on the pricier side though (of $20!) and is a pain in the ass to remove.

The 211 brush is AMAZINGGGG. It's the BEST eyeliner brush I've used! It's amazing when I use it with my Bobbie Brown Gel Eyeliner. I haven't used it yet with a liquid liner but I can imagine it'd be even better! It's very easy to create the thinnest line or you can easily build on it and create a thick line and it makes winging eyeliner a piece of cake! I've noticed my wings are almost identical whenever I use this brush :) ...thus why I love it so much I've ordered two more to keep as back ups LOL..

The 226 brush is also a great brush! In my opinion I'd probably prefer the 217 for crease work still but if you want a really precise darkened crease this is perfect. It's fine tapered tip helps blend colors in effortlessly and gives you great precision control. I already own one of these so I just got two more in case it's dirty or if I ever lose one.

Overall the collection was a really good one. It has dark and neutral colors with some purples in the mix. I think everyone could benefit from this release and find something they like... which could be bad for one's wallet! It didn't rape my wallet as bad as I thought though ^_^ I leave you with some swatches...

Lipsticks, Eyeshadows, Blushes, Lipglasses

Cream Coloured Bases

Lipglasses, Lipsticks, Lady Grey Quad, Evil Eye Quad

Evil Eye Quad, Shadesticks

So what did everyone end up purchasing?

If you have any other questions about the collection I have a pretty strong opinion LOL.. I just couldn't cover the rest of the collection since I'm about to head to work but I definitely spent like 2 hours there swatching and comparing and debating :3

See you in the next post!

BENEFIT FEMME METALE REVIEW & SWATCHES

Two posts in one week?!?! Yes, I feel motivated! It's partially due to the fact that I can't sleep right now because my back is killing me since it's that time of the month. I swear it just crept up on me this month, so unexpected!

If you're a long reader of my blog, you'll know I love to buy sets that are a good value! I recently purchased the Benefit Femme Metale set from Sephora a couple of weeks ago for $28. Benefit really likes to price things at $28 whether it's one blush, a liquid highlighter, or even a gift set but it says it's original price was $38. Either way that's a good value too with what you're getting in the set! You can find it here at sephora. Online it says it's not in stock anymore but when I went to purchase it in store they had more than enough so I'd probably check there if you're interested in purchasing.

Here's what to look for when purchasing in-store. It's a small box so it might be easy to overlook.

When you take off the clear plastic... I guess box cover???... all the items are held inside with some spongey material. At first try it was a challenge to remove but luckily I had to the help of my co-worker! (Yes I opened this at work lol.. and I tried out the products there too.)

This set contains:
  • 3 x 0.16oz Creaseless Cream Eyeshadows
  • 3 x 0.04oz Eyeliners
You're getting 3 full sized cream eyeshadows (which normally retails for $19 each) and 3 mini pencils to try out! I'd say that's a great deal. Plus the liners really won't budge for anything! Well, maybe if you're attacking it with makeup remover but that's a given.

However, these cream eyeshadows differs from their original ones when it comes to packaging. The name of the shade is actually on the top of the lid versus being on the bottom on a clear label. Either way it doesn't matter to me because I keep them stored sideways so I don't see either side when I'm choosing a shade to use.

  • Platinum is a metallic white
  • Plum-ing for Gold is a metallic plum
  • Taupe-aztic is a metallic golden-beige (On my skin and in the pot it appears to be a simple gold shade instead of 'taupe' like the name says.)
  • Gem-n-Eye is a golden olive with shimmer
  • Steel Her Date is a steel blue
  • Blinged is a silver

Also if you've been a long reader of this blog, you know I'll hardly (more like never) post swatches of products! Reason being is because it always looks too washed out or I'll write up a review at night so there's no natural light to take a non-flash photo in... or usually I'm too lazy. Today I am writing this up in the morning and last night I discovered a setting on my camera that really doesn't wash out the colors so I give you... SWATCHES!

Platinum, Plum-ing for Gold, Taupe-aztic, Gem-n-Eye, Steel Her Date, and Blinged with flash.

Platinum, Plum-ing for Gold, Taupe-aztic, Gem-n-Eye, Steel Her Date, and Blinged without flash.

This is such a great kit and if you're a fan of colored bases and liners, you'll love this set just as much as I do! I'll try to post more hauls/reviews with swatches now that I've figured out a setting that works well :)

Thanks all for stopping by!
